Day 40 of 100

Let me explain.  Yesterday I tried on 2 separate occasions to upload more pictures from the day (which was awesome).  It would upload a single picture and then refuse to upload more.  It was late, I was tired, I gave up and thus yesterday's post.

So what else did we do yesterday?
Took a trolley tour of Asheville
Went to an antique car museum and an art gallery
Went to several other craft, art, really expensive furniture, clothing and trinket galleries/shops
Got caught in a CRAZY lightening
Went to a cute, cultured cafe for lunch
Ate a huge, mouth watering cupcake for mid-afternoon snack
Went with what we knew for dinner (Olive Garden)
Checked-out the Grove Park Inn
Took a self-made-detour up the mountains and found the best view of Asheville.

What about today?
Slept in- because that's what people do on vacation.
Went to Goodwill- because that's what I do on vacation.
12 Bones for lunch- we shared a plate of pulled pork and a half rack of ribs (so good).
Followed the Urban walking trail- a "trail" marked out in downtown "that features sculptures, history stops and eye-catching architecture."  The tour of 1.7 miles is supposed to take about 2 hrs.  With all the stops we made at shops, it took us all afternoon.
During the tour, we made a stop at Malaprop's Bookstore and Cafe for coffee, tea, and a good read.
For dinner we visited a vegetarian cafe- Corey tried tofu and liked it.

To end the evening we joined the crowd at the drum circle. Locals bring drums of varying kinds and sizes and have a huge jam session.  We were there when it started with 4 drummers, 1 tambourine shaker, 4 hacky sac players, and 1 dancer.  It grew to 15 drummers, 3 tambourine shakers, and 4 dancers.  When we returned after dinner, the crowd looked like this.

Too many percussionists and dancers to count and not an open seat available.
A great experience.
Another great day.

not just a car museum but also the metal sculptures in the park, and walking inside the hotel to find a bathroom and look around, and also finding our evening plans.

hmm, we also got some very good bread from the cafe, that was nice!

The christmas store in the rain, blue, and the expensive yarn. Also that really huge sand timer!

Oh, and Miley Cyrus and boom boom pow, and Dorthy!

The drum circle belly dancer man, yikes! And the way to find out if someone was crazy or not...lack of personal space.

The rootbeer floats were nice and talking about rootbeer varieties and my grandpa.

There were also the street performers and the people who asked you for directions.

Lets see, the nun, the "breakdancer" and the water thing for kids. And the crazy voice changing stones!

I also enjoyed spinning that huge metal thing and leaving pennies on the trail. Determining the markers on the ground everywhere actually helped the trail was also fun.

Seeing your brain turn when we saw the creative shirts and seeing your plans forming to make your own, that was cool.

And the chocolate store was nice, we got some free chocolate there shaped like NC.

And in all the stores all the different art and weird stuff. You mentioned it but you didn't mention the stuff we thought about getting for Jason, the funny shaped candies, and the buttons we could make for David.

And finally the free fudge, from 3 different places ;) yummy

We had a great time and have been enjoying being with each other. Best friends and lovers :)

Hey! I enjoyed looking at your blog! My daughter, Chloe L., will be a student at MACU in the fall, and I was "stalking" you on FB and saw that you had a blog, so of course I had to check it out! Love, love, love the "100 days in pictures" challenge that Corey gave you. We'll see you soon!
